Tobermore have given generous donations to various charities and organisations already this year.
Tobermore remains a longstanding supporter of local charity, Barnardo’s NI, with donations now reaching over £300,000. These much-needed funds will no doubt make a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable children, young people, and their families across the UK and Ireland.
Working directly with over 100,000 children and young people each year in Northern Ireland, offering over 50 services and delivering educational support programmes in 200 schools, Barnardo’s NI is currently the largest children’s charity in Northern Ireland. Alongside their many fundraising events across communities, schools and shops, they heavily depend on donations.
Michele Janes, Head of Barnardo’s Northern Ireland and Mukesh Sharma Chair, Northern Ireland Advisory Board visited Tobermore and met with Managing Director, David Henderson to thank him for the generosity of the company.
Michele was happy to share with David some of the ways in which Tobermore’s donations have been used. One of which was helping to fight digital poverty during COVID.

Tobermore MD, David Henderson is proud to support local mental health charity ‘The Olive Branch’ with generous £2,000 donation. The company is committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of its employees and wider community. These much-needed funds will provide local mental health support for those who reach out for help. As the charity do not currently receive government funding, they rely on donations and welcome all avenues of funding.

Tobermore recently celebrated 80 years in business with two large company events, the perfect opportunity for the team to pull together and contribute to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. With Tobermore such a charitable company, a collection was made across both evenings with David Henderson kindly matching all donations. A total of £5,629.30 was raised.
The DEC brings together 15 leading UK aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas. More than 5 million people have now fled Ukraine since the conflict began, leaving behind jobs, belongings and loved ones, they now face an uncertain future.

The Payroll Giving scheme provides Tobermore staff members the opportunity to regularly donate a small percentage from their gross pay/pension each month to a charity of their choice. The donations are taken from pay/pension before income tax is applied, making it a tax-effective way to give. Charities big and small, often depend on the donations from Payroll Giving for research and practical assistance for those vulnerable and in need.
