Block Paving

Award-winning architects Hypostyle were tasked with restoring the original B-listed clock tower and pump house on the Queens Dock in Glasgow.

Tobermore Sienna block paving in Silver, Graphite and Sandstone was used to provide the perfect solution for the distillery.  The graphite tones in Sienna juxtaposed with the muted colours of the distillery truly create a sense of old and new.

In 2018, the distillery was recognised by the Royal Incorporation of Architects Scotland for its Quality In Architecture.

Award-winning architects Hypostyle were tasked with restoring the original B-listed clock tower and pump house on the Queens Dock in Glasgow, which was once the centre for the city’s original whisky exports, to create The Clydeside Distillery and visitor experience.

Hypostyle Architects sought to source hard landscaping to complement the unique features of the pump house and dock while providing adequate walkways and car parking for the expected 60,000 visitors.

With a wide-ranging product selection, Tobermore was well-equipped to provide Hypostyle with a hard landscaping solution which surpassed aesthetic expectations while blending in perfectly with the heritage surroundings.

Tobermore provided the perfect paving solution for the distillery by using Sienna in Silver, Graphite and Sandstone and Fusion Kerbing.

Sienna was used extensively in three tones to create walkways around the distillery and to delineate car parking areas. The graphite tones in Sienna juxtaposed with the muted colours of the distillery truly create a sense of old and new.

Since opening, The Clydeside Distillery has been a great success. In 2018, the distillery welcomed 71,000 visitors and was recognised by RIAS for its
quality in architecture.
