The upmarket development was built on a sloping site which required an attractive retaining wall.
A large retaining wall was required but space was limited. The retaining wall needed to incorporate corners, curves and steps, as well as supporting an elevated car park above it.
The existing site conditions were far from ideal and required significant remediation works.
Peter Leonard, Quantity Surveyor at Carpenterbuild Ltd commented: “Having no prior awareness of alternative retention methods, we were going to use a Gabion Basket system. We had previous experience using Gabions on other schemes.”

Secura Retaining Wall was the most cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing option.
Peter explained his decision to use Secura:
“Once we were introduced to Tobermore’s Secura Retaining Walls we were interested in carrying out a cost exercise. The Secura Wall was identified as the most cost-effective option. On top of this, Secura’s design was also preferred. Secura was a more aesthetically pleasing option, with a nice range of colours to choose from that complemented the building.”
“In addition to the retaining wall, we also ordered paving and kerbs from Tobermore. The Tobermore team was very helpful, answering any questions we had to ask.”
"We would definitely recommend the Secura wall system and will use it on future projects. We would recommend Tobermore as they are competitive on price and have excellent customer service."
