The Woodlands is a housing scheme from Willmark Homes located in Loughborough, Leicestershire, that consists of eight beautiful six-bedroom detached properties. With an enviable reputation for building quality homes across the East Midlands, Willmark Homes wanted to ensure that this scheme was designed and built to the high standard of existing projects both internally and externally. The developer faced issues with the external areas at The Woodlands due to the sloping site conditions. Tobermore solved the problem quickly and efficiently with the provision of Secura Grand – a mortar-free retaining wall product with an attractive, aged finish.
Willmark Homes saw The Woodlands project through every stage of development from the design process which was looked after by the company designers in-house in early 2015 to the launch of the construction works in Summer 2015.
Ian Jowett, Managing Director at Willmark Homes, explained that he was aware of the sloping site issue as the construction works were undertaken: “The site conditions dictated that a solution was needed to combat the sloping land where the homes were built. Our objective from that perspective was to source a quality retaining wall system that met the functional requirements whilst providing an aesthetically pleasing product to complement the homes within the development.”
As the developer held a trusted relationship with local builders merchant, Frank Keys, advice from the supplier was highly valued and following discussions about sourcing a suitable retaining wall product, Frank Keys put forward Tobermore’s Secura Grand.
Secura Grand is a mortar-free, dry building product that promises a fast and easy installation process. The product is used mainly in large projects where a high retaining wall is required, guaranteeing a more efficient use of land. As well as these practical benefits, Secura Grand is manufactured with a charming, aged finish that creates a random stone appearance.
Ian commented on Willmark Homes’ decision to specify Tobermore’s Secura Grand: “The product met all the requirements set out. The major selling point of Tobermore’s retaining wall product for us was the country-themed aesthetics and the highly impressive speed of installation that the product offered.
“Once Tobermore had the product delivered to site, our team completed the construction of the retaining wall around the site within one week – it was absolutely fantastic.”

Reflecting on the Secura Grand retaining wall product supplied by Tobermore, Ian said: “I had confidence in the advice provided by Frank Keys on Tobermore’s Secura Grand and I was definitely not disappointed – the product is superb. I already recommend Tobermore products to other developers as well as architects and contractors that we work with and I will continue to do so.”
Ian added: “On a personal level, I was so impressed with the Tobermore product range that I have since incorporated Tobermore’s Fusion block paving and Country Kerb products on the patio area at my home which totally transformed my outdoor space.”
