Hunsdon Lodge Farm is a new modern development set in an idyllic village within Hertfordshire. Consisting of 14 beautiful homes, the development was awarded ‘Best Small New Housing Development’ at the LABC Building Excellence Awards. Local Authority Building Control (LABC) represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales.
To enhance the external area of the properties, the developer sought a hard landscaping solution that complemented the homes.
Vintage themed Hydropave Tegula in shades slate and bracken were used to provide a stylish, timeless appearance, while allowing sufficient drainage.
Aesthetically pleasing permeable paving was required to mitigate flood risk
Hunsdon Lodge Farm is a new modern development consisting of 14 beautiful homes. Situated in the idyllic village of Hunsdon, the properties offer a charming finish.
Liam McGrenaghan, Director at J&L Build, explained: “Our biggest issue was the drainage under the road. High quality permeable paving was required to mitigate flood risk. We had to carefully consider a product that would allow for efficient drainage and water movement.”
To enhance the external area of the properties, the developer sought a permeable solution that complemented the homes’ aesthetic. Colour retention was of utmost importance and the quality of the products needed to be of a high standard.
Hydropave Tegula provides the perfect permeable paving solution
Tobermore’s Hydropave Tegula in Slate and Bracken were chosen for the charming development. The permeable block paving provides an aged, antique appearance which evokes timeless style and elegance.
Hydropave Tegula functions as a SuDs system and offers valuable environmental benefits, which made it the perfect solution to mitigate the flood risk.
Liam McGrenaghan, Director at J&L Build, explained: “Tobermore’s Hydropave system allows the water to filter into the ground and stops flooding and excess water runoff.”
Several of the back patio areas of the properties featured Tobermore’s Historic flags in the shade bracken. With their attractive appearance and hard-wearing surface, Historic flags offered a rustic finish to each outdoor space.
