Starting an outdoor project can be daunting. Perhaps your garden is a bit of a mess and you don’t know where to start? Or maybe you are feeling uninspired and don’t know which style suits your outside space best?

Check out our guide to understanding whether a contemporary or traditional style will complement your home

Modern style garden

Modern style gardens are largely based on an overall simple style; planting is low maintenance and furniture and lighting is kept simple but functional. When it comes to choosing a hard landscaping material for a modern style garden there is a wide range of paving flags and paving brick available to choose from.

Product ranges from Tobermore such as sparkling Sienna with a natural granite textured finish, smooth Shannon which features a vibrant surface layer or Kensington Flag with its dramatic marble-effect design, are all suited to modern style gardens.

Shannon – a smooth surface block paving, perfect for bikes, scooters etc

Traditional gardens tend to be full of colour, planting, trees and textured finishes. Curved paths and features such as paved circles help create that traditional style.
