This year, we have learned to pause and appreciate our outdoor spaces as lockdown brought the opportunity to spend more time at home. So, what are the garden design trends going into 2022?

All year round gardens

Can you achieve an outdoor space which can be used year round even with a cold climate? Absolutely. With tactful design and by adding key features, your home can easily accommodate an outdoor space to be used during all four seasons. Below are just a few ways you can achieve this:

1. Weather resistant seating

Create a seating area using walling products such as Garden Stone or Secura Lite meaning you won’t have to drag heavy patio furniture in and out in wet weather. Add outdoor cushions for a pop of colour and comfort.

2. Fire Pits

Fire pits make a great social feature to any garden space. See below how Townhill Landscape Company used our Country Stone walling to create a curved seating area with firepit feature. Perfect for inviting family and friends around for a social gathering!

In addition to hard landscaping. Pip Proberts from BBC’s ‘Your Garden Made Perfect’ suggests adding “plants with interesting bark, berries, seed heads and foliage whether evergreen or simply leaves that remain over winter” to ensure a year-round flourishing garden.

3. Porcelain Paving

Along with the rise in popularity of Porcelain paving came the shortage of materials and long delivery times. Tobermore’s Beaufort range offers the natural, contoured look of porcelain paving with a clean and modern finish. Beaufort is available in a range of contemporary, muted colours making it the ideal choice for modern homes as a porcelain alternative.

4. Herringbone

Herringbone is a classic laying pattern popular in interior design. This timeless and chic aesthetic can be recreated outdoors using paving blocks. With a wide range of colours and lengths of paving blocks suitable for herringbone, an array of patterns and versatile looks can be created to invigorate any patio or driveway.

Contrasting borders, linear paving and a mix of colours can also be used to add interest to any space. Why not try our clay paver alternative range Artro with seven striking colours available to suit any project.

Whether you choose to stick to a classic look or mix it up and create something different, Tobermore’s extensive range of world class paving and walling products present the pinnacle of practicality and aesthetically pleasing options for your outdoor space.
