Here at Tobermore, our customers and our people are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we introduced Social Scran this year, because who doesn’t like free food and a bit of craic with their colleagues? You may be wondering what ‘scran’ means, and it simply refers to the food, something everyone can get onboard with!

At the end of every month, colleagues from various departments gather at head office to play games and avail of tasty treats like chicken goujons, sandwiches, and even a nice curry. The staff lineup changes each month, ensuring that colleagues get to socialise with people they may not interact with often in the daily hustle and bustle of the office.

Day shift, night shift, and Lough Fea production staff are treated to a chip van on a monthly basis, and countless burgers have been enjoyed by the people who work hard to make our exceptional products. Let’s face it, everyone loves an excuse not to bring the lunchbox.

Distance is no obstacle to our desire to bring Social Scran to everyone working for the business. External sales staff can look forward to two events based in their local region, and two visits to head office for a day full of laughs and a great meal.

Along the way, we’ve learned so much about each other thanks to many an icebreaker and fun activity. We now know who are the most competitive amongst us after fighting it out to build the highest structure, our only tools being spaghetti, Sellotape, string, and marshmallows! We can categorically say that no one at Team Tobermore cheated. Honest!

Who would have thought we have so many Swifties amongst us, and so many Bear Grylls wannabes who’d survive a desert island equipped with a knife and a phone charger? The answers to our icebreakers have provided plenty of laughs and things to think about!

We’re all very grateful to the People Development Team for putting on this spread of great food and fun-filled games on a regular basis. People engagement is a key part of our wellbeing strategy, and Social Scran gives everyone something to look forward to at the end of the month.

“These events are designed to boost involvement, strengthen our teamwork, and celebrate the spirit of Team Tobermore, all while reflecting our HEART values.” – Katie Quinn, People Development Officer.
