Our customers and people are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to have once again supported the Macmillan coffee morning, recognising that cancer has touched the lives of all our customers and staff, whether directly or indirectly.

Team Tobermore came together on Friday 27th September to help raise vital funds and awareness in support of more than three million people in the UK living with cancer. In a fantastic effort, Tobermore staff raised £2,065.40 for this very worthy cause.

Since 1990, the Macmillian Coffee Morning has brought together millions of people from across the UK to share their stories of this devastating illness and raise money to tackle cancer. Head Office and Production staff caught up over coffee, cakes, and buns a fun-filled day for a vital charitable initiative. External staff joined each other remotely on Microsoft Teams for a cuppa so that they were absent in person but present in spirit.

Prior to the day, staff were given a poster full of pictures of more coffee cups than you could ever count and challenged to count them. It was harder than you think! The lucky winner (our colleague Leah from the CRM Team) was treated to a special prize, a box of delicious chocolate treats.

The entry fee for the competition was added to the generous donations our staff had been making throughout the week, both via a Macmillan donation link and collection buckets scattered throughout Head Office, Production, and our Lough Fea quarry. We’d also like to extend our thanks to Sperrin Bakery for kindly donating the cake, as well as providing buns for over 200 employees to enjoy on the day.

Commenting on the importance of supporting the Macmillan Coffee Morning, Charlene McCorriston, Talent & Engagement Specialist at Tobermore, explained:

“Our customers and our people are at the heart of everything we do at Tobermore, and we recognise that cancer is something that affects the lives of so many people up and down the country. That’s why it was only right that we took part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s big coffee morning. It was great to see everyone come together to raise some money for this vital cause and we are so proud to do our bit in the battle against cancer.”

Charitable initiatives are an important part of our visions and values here at Tobermore. It is our mission to transform people and places, and we have donated £8,000,000 over the past 5 years to vital causes in 37 countries. Charity is not an afterthought at Tobermore, it is a key part of our purpose.

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the UK’s leading cancer charities, providing practical, emotional, and financial support for over 3,000,000 people living with cancer. In 2023 alone, the charity raised an incredible £226.8 million and reached 2.3 million people with its crucial services. Tobermore is delighted to play its part.
