Tobermore Wins ‘Business Team of the Year’
Tobermore continues to be a real Northern Irish success story when they picked up the ‘Business Team of the Year’ award at the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards 2008 in the Ramada Hotel, Belfast.
The company attributes its growth in sales and profitability to years of effective teamwork and through teamwork it is one of Ireland’s most successful manufacturing companies.
The paving and walling manufacturer have almost completed phase one in a £10m investment in a new factory which is set to increase capacity by over 50% over the next two years, creating 100 new jobs to further expand the Tobermore team. Tobermore says such a move will not only better service it’s ever growing customer base but also allow Tobermore to further extend its product range.
Managing Director of Tobermore David Henderson was quick to praise the efforts of what he described as the “Tobermore Team” in their achievements, “This award is recognition of all the hard work and commitment of all the Tobermore staff and I accept this award on their behalf”.
The judges were impressed by Tobermore’s focus on quality; the world-renowned European Foundation for Quality Management award was presented to the company in Athens last October. In the past three years, the company has also won a series of other high profile awards including the UK Business Excellence award (2005), the CIM Sales Excellence and Overall CIM winner award (2005) and the CIM Best Regional Marketing Team (2007).
The judging panel also applauded Tobermore for it’s strategic approach to business and how its clear, focused and ambitious targets were communicated throughout the company. The company’s vision, objectives, strategies and sales figures are posted in every office and every department in the company. Tobermore also boasts one of the lowest levels of staff turnover in the manufacturing industry, reflecting the high level of morale and team spirit within the company.
Ultimately the success of any business team can be measured in results. Tobermore Concrete has seen sales grow from £8.44m in 2001 with an expectation to exceed £44m in 2008.
