Tobermore and Concern Worldwide Partnership Report 2010

Tobermore began a three year parnership with Concern Worldwide over 16 months ago and quite a number of things have happened in that time with the money that has been raised.
Tobermore have picked two projects to support:
1. Our main project was based in Nyanza Province, Kenya
2. The second project was based in Orissa, India.
Project One – Kenya Schools and Clean Water
The main project is based in the Nyanza Province, Kenya. Tobermore's objective for the three year partnership programme is as follows –
1. Construct 12 new classrooms
2. Provide clean water at the schools which is available for all pupils and the local community
3. Provide grants to the local community to help them start up their own businesses and help them learn the skills to generate their own income
In 2009, construction work took place at the following schools –
Ragumo Primary School - New classroom
Buoye Primary School - New classroom
Mayenya Primary School - New classroom
Ongadi Primary School - New classroom
Ayaro Primary School - New toilets including new water tank
Obwolo Primary School - New toilets including new water tank
Kibos Peru School - New toilets
Okok Primary School - New toilets
In 2010, construction work will take place at the following schools –
Bondo Nyironge Primary School - New classroom, toilets and water tank
Ramoya Primary School - New classroom, toilets and water tank
Magoto Primary School - New classroom, toilets and water tank
Nyamanga Primary School - New classroom and toilets
Fundraising
In the past 16 months, Tobermore have taken part in the Belfast Marathon on two occasions. In 2009, Tobermore had four relay teams running in the event and in 2010 had two teams participating in the event. Tobermore would like to thank everyone who took part in these events and to all those that donated money.
Tobermore assist this project with a scheme the sees 10p per sqm of
Hydropave Permeable Paving products sold being donated.
Project Two - HIV and Aids Education Project
The second project involves providing much needed funding to reduce the spread of HIV and Aids in Orissa, India, through education and awareness training. In 2009 a large number of people have been educated about HIV and Aids through one to one training, seminars, radio and other public awareness campaigns. This will continue throughout 2010 in an effort to reduce the spread of HIV and Aids.

Pietra Natural Stone products sold being donated.
